Mississippi drivers on the road today carry no insurance at all — among the highest rates in the country. Uninsured motorist coverage is what stands between you and their bill.

Auto insurance isn’t just a legal requirement — it’s a crucial layer of protection for your vehicle, your finances, and your peace of mind. Whether it’s a fender bender or a major accident, having the right coverage ensures you’re not left facing the unexpected alone.

  • Meets Mississippi’s legal minimum and your lender’s requirements

  • Repairs or replaces your own vehicle after a crash, a theft or a storm
  • Keeps you moving with roadside assistance and a rental while yours is in the shop

Coverage Explained

What’s In An Auto Policy

Most auto policies are built from the same handful of parts. Knowing which are required and which are yours to choose is what makes two quotes comparable.

Required in Mississippi

Liability

Pays for injury and property damage you cause to others. Mississippi requires at least 25/50/25 — $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident, $25,000 property damage.

Lender may require

Collision

Repairs or replaces your own vehicle after a crash, whoever was at fault. Expect a loan or a lease to require it.

Lender may require

Comprehensive

Damage that isn’t a collision — theft, vandalism, fire, hail, a falling limb, an animal in the road. On the coast, the line that answers most storm questions.

Included by default

Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist

Covers you when the driver who hit you has no policy, or nowhere near enough of one. Mississippi puts it on every policy unless you reject it in writing — rarely the place to save money.

Commonly added

Medical Payments

Medical bills for you and your passengers, whoever caused the accident, with no wait on a fault determination.

Commonly added

Roadside & Rental

Towing, jump starts, lockouts, and a rental while yours is in the shop. Cheap, and the part most people actually use.

Why Us

Why Buy It Here

The policy is only half of it. The other half is who reads it with you, who picks up when you call, and whether anyone reviews it again at renewal.

Independent, Not Captive

We don’t work for one carrier. We work for you — and we can move you when a carrier stops being the right fit.

Over 100 Markets

One conversation puts your risk in front of more than a hundred markets instead of a single company’s rate table.

We Shop, You Don’t

You give us one set of details once. We handle the comparing, the follow-up and the review at renewal.

Local To The Coast

Our office is on Government Street in Ocean Springs. Coastal underwriting isn’t a special case here — it’s every file we handle.

FAQ

Auto Questions We Get

The five that come up most on a first call. If yours isn’t here, call the office — you will get a plain answer, not a sales pitch.

What auto insurance is required in Mississippi?

Liability, at a state minimum of 25/50/25 — $25,000 of bodily injury per person, $50,000 per accident, and $25,000 of property damage. Your policy must also include uninsured motorist coverage unless you reject it in writing. Everything else is either a lender requirement or your choice. Worth saying plainly: the minimum is a legal floor, not a recommendation. One serious accident can clear $25,000 of property damage easily.

Does “full coverage” mean everything is covered?

No, and it isn’t a real policy type — it’s shorthand people use for liability plus collision plus comprehensive. It doesn’t automatically include medical payments, roadside or rental. Uninsured motorist is the exception in Mississippi: state law puts it on every policy unless it’s rejected in writing, so check it hasn’t been signed away. If someone quotes you “full coverage,” ask which lines are actually on it.

Does my auto policy cover storm or flood damage to my car?

Comprehensive is the line that responds to wind, hail and rising water damaging a vehicle — not your flood policy, which covers your home and belongings but excludes cars. So a car can be covered for flooding while the house next to it is not, or the reverse. If you are on the coast and carry liability only, that gap is worth a conversation. See also flood coverage.

Do I still need comprehensive once the car is paid off?

Once there’s no lender, it becomes your call. The usual test is whether you could replace the vehicle out of pocket tomorrow. If you could, dropping comprehensive and collision on an older car can be reasonable. If you could not, the premium is buying you the replacement.

Will making a claim put my rate up?

It can, and it depends on the claim, the carrier and your history — an at-fault collision is treated differently from a windshield or a comprehensive claim. This is one of the concrete advantages of an independent agent: if your carrier reacts badly to a claim, we can take you to one that prices it more kindly rather than leaving you stuck.
